In late 2012, the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta formed the Jewish Summer Camp Task Force to increase the number of Atlanta kids attending Jewish summer camp by communicating the benefits of the experience, helping parents select the right camp, and providing financial assistance to pay for camp.
During the summer of 2014, following the first year of fundraising, the task force was able to provide 212 grants to first-time campers and 106 need-based scholarships to make camp more affordable for deserving children. We hope to make it possible for even more kids to attend camp this summer and in the summers to follow.
The Jewish Camp Scholarship program is one of Atlanta Federation’s targeted giving initiatives to which donors can specifically direct their contributions. That means 100% of the funds you donate go directly to sending kids to camp. Additionally, generous gifts are already covering administrative costs.
Finally, thanks to a very generous donor, all gifts of $500 or more with a three-year commitment will be matched dollar for dollar.
Research has shown for years that Jewish camp is one of the most effective ways to connect Jewish youth with the Jewish community. Help us send more kids to Jewish summer camp and ensure a strong Jewish future.
Thank you for your support,
Task Force Co-Chairs, Staci Brill and Maury Shapiro
